Create a Sitemap with Sitespinner

A free XML sitemap generator can be found at https://xmlsitemapgenerator.org/

Do not enter your https:// URL; this will only index the home page. Instead use the http:// URL.

Also, while you added text links to your navigation items, you also added a link to the entire text object using either the Quick Edit window or Object Editor. Doing this wraps a link inside a link which will cause problems in some browsers.

Hi Larry,

I am lost on what you said about the "you added text links to your navigation items....".  How do I correct that problem?  What is the name of the file I would need to correct?  Can you tell me that?  And, HOW will I fix it?

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Nancy

1. With your project loaded in SiteSpinner and the index page selected, open the Quick Edit window (ALT+Q keyboard shortcut or using the toolbar button). [ Note: You can leave this window open until all changes have been made. If you use the Object Editor, you will need to open and close it for each change. ]

2. Select one of your navigation text objects. Once selected (not opened), it will appear in the Quick Edit window's "Object" tab. Switch over to the "Link" tab in the Quick Edit window. If you used the built-in SiteSpinner feature to link your pages, the top line in the window will show "[ page ]" and the page name to be linked. If you manually entered the linked page's URL, that will be shown. If the top line show "www.", then my assumption of how the double linking was created is wrong; in this case, do not do anything else and let me know.

3. Assuming you see a link to another page, just delete the link text.

4. Select the next navigation text object and repeat step 3.

You will need to do repeat the object selection and link deletion for each navigation text object on all your project's pages. Once done, republish your project.

Hi Larry,

So, I added each link manually.  So, I am definitely not saying you are wrong, but it seems the links are all the http:www.stophorse.....com, so I didn't do anything else and stopped.

From what I can tell, there are only 4 links on that page, well 7 with the paypal links, but those are made by Paypal, so they are okay.  They work.

I don't know much about the "how to use" Sitespinner.  I inherited a project and thus began working on it with Sitespinner.  I knew a little bit about building websites 20 years ago, and that is what got me into doing this site.  So, I am really a beginner at all of this. I know just enough to get me into trouble.

Nancy

PS:  I was able to get all my sitemap.xml's accepted by Google.  That is a plus, I think.
